The White Sox were in town last night so I went to the game. It was so nice to be around some fans who wanted to cheer and jeer their team. Don’t get me wrong, I love going to Rockies games but the crowd is just a bit too docile for me. Good old Quiet Coors Field. I cannot seem to get over the fact that fans do not seem to cheer much unless the jumbo-tron says “on your feet” or “lets make some noise.” Truthfully I find it rather insulting to take cues from a score board. Are modern fans so out of it that they need to be told when to cheer?

The other thing that makes me sad is that I only get to see the Sox a few times a year and I wish watching the Rockies play could evoke the same emotion. When the Rockies lose it just not have that same gut wrenching feeling like when the White Sox do. Billy Corgan is right, the embers will never completely fade in my city by the lake.
